Many dogs struggle around distractions, especially with recall and it’s not really their fault. We are simply often too excited to introduce them to the world and all the fun and games in it that we forget that we might be undermining our own value in the process. Dogs are like children, if you take them to Disney Land every day, they will want to go there all the time and pay less attention to you because you are more boring than Disney Land. This is what happens to dogs too when they learn that other dogs or the environment are the sources of fun and games. So we should start right and build a strong connection with our new puppy by introducing engagement with ourselves first. We as owners must be fun and exciting for us to have any real value to our dogs. When you have no value, you have no obedience.
