Correction is not enough

In their minds, this reaction is what might be called training. So yelling ‘no’ to your dog becomes the “training session”. In contrast, professional dog trainers teach dogs how rewarding it is to perform desirable alternative behaviors, instead. So instead of correcting a dog, trainers focus on teaching the dog how to behave in that situation.
