A dog’s separation anxiety has been defined as anxiety and distress in the absence of an attachment figure.

Most dogs are emotionally attached to their owners, but dogs suffering from separation anxiety show more attachment behaviours than others.

Separation anxiety has many causes, but it is believed that genetics and/or an early history of abandonment can contribute to the anxiety of being left alone. That’s why it’s common with rescue dogs. I understand Separation Anxiety through my own experience with my first dog. I had to go through a lot of websites, blogs, training sites and try many different training methods before I was able to help my dog.
