Dog Trainer Arncliffe – How to Stop Jumping Up?
Jumping up on you or your guests is definitely one of the most common and annoying dog behaviours we have to put up with. Or do we? Here’s advice from a dog trainer in Arncliffe.
Reinforce Sit
Teach your dog a reliable sit command in front of people. Practise a lot to create an automatic sit. And make it more challenging by having people try and encourage jumping up! But remember to reward very well if your dog is able to resist!
Never Reinforce Jumping Up!
Don’t give your pup any attention when they jump, not even if they are tiny and cute! Do the opposite: turn and walk away from your dog if they jump up. Only give attention when all paws are on the ground!
Same Rules for Everyone!
Be consistent! Your dog should not be allowed to jump on anyone, ever. No matter what!
