Build a Better Bond with Your Dog in 30 days
Follow one simple suggestion per day to improve your dog’s behaviour and strengthen your bond!
19TH DAY
Handling/grooming session
Grooming is something we might not even think about before we absolutely have to. But being able to cut your dog’s nails and check their teeth while the dog stays calm and friendly is very important. And it’s only a matter of getting used to being handled and touched all over. If you need help with raising a confident adult dog try out my online puppy school Inner West.
So today we’ll really check in with your dog and give him a head to toe once over, handling him from his feet to his ears.
- Prepare delicious treats ready for rewarding your dog for calm behaviour.
- Start touching your dog in a calm manner all over. Lift his paws and tail, hold them for a while, check his ears and teeth. Reward often!
- When your dog is comfortable with a short grooming session, start adding duration.
- You can also wash, blow-dry and brush your dog, cut his nails and clean his ears.
M online puppy school Inner West will educate you about socialising and training your puppy in a positive way. It focuses on the quality of the experiences helping you to prevent any issues caused by negative encounters.
Each week you’ll receive an e-package with useful videos, fact sheets and coursework. You can ask questions in our live Q&A sessions and interact with other dog owners in the forums.
This online puppy school Inner West educates you of everything you need to know about raising a confident and balanced adult dog.
And it is all done in a positive way for you and your puppy!
A puppy might be born with a certain temperament, but it is the way they are raised and the experiences they have that will ultimately determine their personalities. Your Puppy’s brain is like a sponge and every experience is stored away in their memory, affecting their personality.
Puppies learn all the time, not just when they are being trained, so your behaviour and the way the puppy is handled will also influence them. That’s why it is important that you know how to encourage desired behaviours and create good experiences for your puppy.
When it comes to training a puppy, the early weeks and months of your puppy’s life are essential. Puppies need to experience many different positive encounters to become confident adults.
