Meet the Trainers
Your Dog Trainer in Sydney
Meet the trainers
My name is Anniina and I’m the owner of Eazy Dog Training. I studied for a dog training diploma in a private dog training school in 2012 in Finland and graduated top of my class.
My studies included understanding canine behaviour and learning different training techniques. We also studied how to prevent problems, how to teach and train people and how to run dog training classes. I’ve always been passionate about dog training and have attended multiple training seminars, training clubs and read a lot of books about canine behaviour. I’m keeping myself updated on the latest training
news and am an online member for agility and Rally Obedience training at all times. I’m also a member of PICSI agility training club and Sydney All Breed Dog Training Club, a Certified Member of the Pet Professional Guild (PPG) and a Supporting Member of the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants (IAABC).
I started dog training with my own dogs in 2009, focusing on competitive obedience and I’ve been a professional dog trainer since 2012. I have over 6 years’ experience competing in obedience, agility, blood tracking and dog shows in Finland. I have done it all with my own dogs from dog shows to advanced obedience, agility, tracking, blood tracking, nosework and trick training.
As a trainer, I’ve always felt that I’ve learnt best from other trainers.
Not only what works but also what doesn’t work. There are many different trainers out there and learning different training methods through training your own dog is a very important aspect of becoming a good trainer. That’s why I’ve always been a part of an active training group and taken part in many training seminars and courses. I’m a positive dog trainer who uses positive reinforcement techniques.
In Australia, I have worked as a dog trainer running obedience and manners classes, puppy schools and helping private clients with their dog troubles.
I’ve successfully rehabilitated leash reactive dogs and improved recall skills for many happy Aussie clients.
I have two Border Collie girls called Sansa and Leeloo and we train obedience, Rally O and agility. They both absolutely love agility training and are very good at it. They also know quite a few tricks. You can meet my girls with me on Saturday mornings when I run classes, they wait patienly in their crates for their turn.
A Letter from the Owner of Eazy Dog Training
“Hi,
My name is Anniina. I’m your online dog trainer and your local dog trainer in Sydney.
It’s a pleasure to meet you and I can’t wait to start helping you get some great training results with your dog!
I have been around dogs my whole life. I grew up in the countryside in Finland where dogs weren’t trained unless they were working dogs. And if they were working dogs, like most of my family’s hunting dogs, they existed for that purpose only. Our family hunting dogs weren’t allowed to enter the house and they certainly weren’t cuddled and played with. They stayed outside waiting to go hunting again. And the other ‘pet’ dogs were let outside to roam free.
I didn’t notice behavioural issues with any of these dogs. I recall having to be careful with food around working dogs, because they could fight over it. But then again, we didn’t spend that much time with them either. I do know they fought sometimes based on some of the injuries I saw. So, realistically, we didn’t know exactly what they did or how they behaved while we weren’t around.
Working as a dog trainer in Sydney in a few dog day cares with over 200 dogs per week has taught me a lot.
All dogs seem to have their own personalities, preferences and likings. Even though certain breeds have similar qualities, I do strongly believe that just like us, dogs are largely shaped by the experiences they have in life. Especially the early, formative ones. And even more so our own behaviour affects them. Your dog learns the things you teach them, whether you meant to teach those things or not. Our dogs are very clever, ultimately they exhibit the behaviours that we accept from them. That’s why it’s good to remember that you don’t only own dogs, you also need to raise them.
We have a huge responsibility to provide our dog the means to survive in our daily life.
That means that we need to provide them both basic obedience and enough exercise and mental stimulation for them to be truly happy. I’ve seen many active dogs that come up with clever and somewhat annoying ways to entertain themselves to get rid of all the energy they have. I’ve seen dogs that destroy anything they can find, obsessive humping of other dogs and objects, non-stop barking… And you know what? It’s not the dog’s fault, if you don’t provide them enough physical and mental activities. Dogs will find another way to use all that extra energy and you might not like it.
Teaching your dog basic obedience is a necessity.
While an obedient dog is a pleasure to be around, the opposite is also very true. A disobedient dog can be a real pain. I know this from experience.
When I started working at my first dog day care, my legs were covered with bruises. I get jumped on, bitten when giving or even holding a treat, barked at non-stop, my foot gets bitten when kicking a ball, my face sometimes gets bitten if I bend over, I have to be constantly alert outside for bikes, men, skateboards… Unfortunately the list goes on and on.
If you want your dog to be obedient and well mannered, you need to do the work too. Simple manners and basic obedience can be taught without too much effort. It means setting some rules and boundaries for your dog and reinforcing them every day.
You can take your dog’s training to a much higher level if you choose to, of course, but at the very minimum, your dog should learn to respond to basic commands and know basic manners.
You can choose from five different online dog training courses.
I’ve created Basic Obedience and Leash Manners courses for every one needing help with basic obedience in their daily lives.
My Online Puppy School ensures you’ll start your new life with your puppy the right way and raise a balanced and confident adult dog.
Separation anxiety course has been created to lessen your dog’s anxiety and to teach you and your dog new routines to better cope in difficult situations.
And my Crate training course is for anyone who wants to teach their dog to be calm in their crate. It’s a great online dog training course for every one, especially for puppies and anxious dogs.
In my online dog training course, you’ll learn how to train with specific training plans, that will educate you about understanding dog behaviour. My online training course will also assist you with setting goals and deadlines to help you keep track of your training. Let’s face it, we all tend to get a bit lazy sometimes, right? You can also contact me when needed, chat with me while training and send me videos of your progress.
Teaching your dog to be obedient isn’t the only benefit of the training. I truly believe that basic obedience training strengthens the bond you have with your dog. It also helps your dog to see you as a pack leader and therefore prevents unwanted behaviours.
In my opinion, there is nothing more beautiful than a good, strong, bond between you and your dog. That’s why I’m more than happy to welcome you to take any of my training courses, online or face-to-face, or to use me as your dog trainer in Inner West Sydney. If you really embrace the amazing and fun world of dog training, the friends and experiences you gain are priceless!
Sincerely,
Your Dog Trainer
Anniina.”
