We had our second ever agility trial with Sansa last weekend.

Eazy dog Training runs beginner agility class in Sydney Park on Saturday mornings!

I had signed her in for 6 runs, which I thought was a lot but to my surprise I still had a lot of time to just wait around. Next time I’ll sign her in for even more than that!

Sansa did very well, she nailed all the difficult things that I was worried that she would have a problem with. But she struggled with weaves. This is a new problem that I had noticed 2 weeks before the trial and was a bit concerned about. She failed them in 5/6 runs. And the only one she got right was due me stopping her before the weaves. This is odd since we’ve practised a lot and she’s always had excellent weaves. She can do them from different angles, me running further away etc. But clearly something has gone wrong and I have a feeling of what. It’s been a long time since she’s been getting rewarded for weaving so they have clearly lost value a bit. And I’ve noticed that I use a vocal cue ‘yes’ when practising if she gets the entry right, which encourages her to keep going. This is something I don’t do at trials so she might think that she’s not doing it right and breaks off.

She was doing very well with everything else, all tho she missed the last contact in our last run.

So we’ll focus on that a bit more as well. But over-all I’m very happy, she ran beautifully and listened to me very well. So we’ll have a few months of practise and then nail it in our next trial when the season starts again next year. She got 3 2nd places in our Saturday trial so can’t be too sad about it!
