An Audition Spot for a 4-Week Working Dog Class in Mascot $169!
60-minute weekly lessons on Sundays.
Start date: 26th February at 11.15 am – 12.15 pm, the last lesson is held at Sydney Park and will run for 90 minutes.
Location: 79 High St, Mascot
- Classes are limited to 2 people per dog.
- Max 7 dogs per class.
- The class runs for 4 consecutive weeks, weather permitting.
Working dog class for working breeds. Suitable for all working breeds of dogs, no matter the age or skill level.
- 4 weeks of training with an experienced & professional dog trainer.
- Great training for everyone who wants to learn t0 understand their working dog’s needs, improve communication/relatioship and build solid engagement.
- Training includes: Healthy engagement education and training. Understanding drives and play behaviours education and training. Desensitisation exercises. Distraction training and basic obedience training. Calming down exercises.
- This class is not suitable for separation anxiety training, or for dogs with severe anxieties, reactivity or aggression issues
This class is designed for active working breeds such as border collies, kelpies, koolies, Australian shepherds, cattle dogs, German shepherds, rottweilers, pointers etc. who have strong drives and active natures which can be more challenging to handle. These types of dogs require more from us handlers when it comes to understanding drive behaviour and managing them around distractions.
Suitable for all fully vaccinated working breeds no matter the age or skill level!
This class includes:
1st Lesson, 60 minutes:
– Healthy engagement
– Building drive
– Using toys correctly/Proper toy handling
– Impulse control
– Clicker training
2nd Lesson, 60 minutes:
– Understanding working breed needs
– Desensitisation to stimulus
– Dangers of over-stimulation and how to avoid it
– Healthy walks and enrichment out and about
3rd Lesson, 60 minutes:
– Enrichment for working breeds
– Calming down skills: Finding that off-switch
– Basic obedience and tricks as mental stimulation
– Different reward techniques
4th Lesson, 90-minutes, Sydney Park:
– All the above in a real-life situation, learn how to manage your working dog in stimulating environments. Learn how to build engagement with you, not with the environment.
Needed for the class:
– A Crate (K-mart sells lightweight, foldable crates that are easy to take with you)
– Your dog’s favourite toy, ball and a tug toy
– High-value treats such as chicken
– Long line for the last lesson
